Dr. A. Eren Altay

Dr. A. Eren Altay is a founding partner of CAC, with a practice focusing on tax and customs law, public law, energy and natural resources, construction and infrastructure, and dispute resolution. He advises both Turkish and international clients on complex regulatory, contractual and contentious matters, with particular experience in projects involving interaction between private investment and public law.

Eren has extensive experience in litigation and arbitration, including ICC and ad hoc proceedings, and has represented and advised clients in major construction, infrastructure and commercial disputes. Before founding CAC, he served as legal counsel to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Crude Oil Pipeline Project, one of the most significant cross-border energy and infrastructure projects in the region, where he advised on project agreements, construction contracts and regulatory matters. His practice continues to include advising investors, contractors and project companies on major energy and infrastructure projects, public procurement matters and disputes arising from their implementation.

Alongside his transactional and dispute resolution practice, Eren has particular expertise in tax law. He holds an LL.M. and a Ph.D. in Tax Law from Ankara University and has represented multinational companies in significant tax, customs and regulatory disputes. His work combines academic expertise in public and tax law with practical experience in complex commercial and regulatory matters.

Eren has also taught constitutional law, public law and administrative procedural law at several universities for more than nine years. He is the author of “Right to Avoid Taxes in the Context of Tax Planning”, published in 2024, and has contributed to various academic publications and translations, including the Turkish translations of the IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence in International Arbitration and the commentary on the revised 2020 IBA Rules.
